The Mount is a Specialist Further Education College for young adults with moderate to severe learning disabilities, aged 16 – 25, offering residential and day provision. Our vision is Living, Learning and Working. Formal and informal education merge across the waking day curriculum with students able to transfer skills from college to work experience and within the home environment. The Mount provides the opportunity for a 3 year college experience with a view that this might extend beyond this timeframe should individuals require additional educational input.
Head Biodynamic Gardener
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Biodynamic Gardener to lead and develop the garden at The Mount Camphill Community, Wadhurst, East Sussex.
Founded in 1970, The Mount Camphill Community is an Independent Specialist College for residential and day students aged 16-25 alongside a thriving Cohousing Community and a range of social enterprise activities, including the garden. Set within 25 acres of mixed ancient woodland, lawns, ponds and gardens, the Community is home to over seventy people and offers a rich, collaborative and purposeful working environment.
This role offers a rare opportunity to take stewardship of an established walled garden, producing vegetables, flowers and herbs for the Community, while also helping shape an exciting future expansion into adjacent land. You will play a central role in developing social farming and gardening opportunities that support wellbeing, learning and connection to the land.
We are looking for someone who has a passion for making a difference, a strong grounding in biodynamic principles, and the ability to inspire and lead others. You will bring a deep sense of responsibility for the land and an understanding of how thoughtful cultivation can enrich lives, strengthen community and support sustainability.
Hours
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am–4.30pm, 52 weeks per year.
- Some flexibility in working hours will be required and agreed in line with seasonal and community needs
Salary
- £34,882.00 per year per year (including 5.6 weeks holiday pay)

Assistant Care and Support Coordinator ( Manager)
We are seeking an experienced social care professional, with a level 5 diploma in health and social care management, or working towards this. You will have the experience and skills to support the management of the quality of the provision in regard to legislation and requirements including the Health and Social Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and CQC regulations. You will have the experience and skills to be the safeguarding lead for the organisation. You think creatively about social care and are keen to work in a collaborative way with a diverse range of colleagues.
Whilst a background in residential education care would be preferable, this role would be ideal for a person working at a team leader or deputy manager level in a health and social care setting.
The post is 5 days, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm term time only (39 weeks) with a salary in the region of £28,495.00( FTE £33,899.00) to £31,776.00 ( FTE £37,802.00) dependent on breadth of experience and qualifications.
Principal Objectives
· Support the management of the quality of care and support in college and the cohousing community as well as social enterprise day placements
· Oversee Quality Assurance systems covering care and support for all activities
· Safeguarding lead for children and adults at risk (college, cohousing, Social enterprise)
Main Responsibilities
· Implement and improve Quality Assurance processes for care and support
· Monitor the annual rolling quality assurance plan including the completion of audits for documentation, finances and medication.
· Oversee safeguarding processes and liaison with external bodies in collaboration with the Safeguarding Group
· Manage MCA/DoLS processes
Qualifications and training
Good level of education, including English
Completed or working towards Level 5 diploma in Social Care and Management
Knowledge and experience
Experience of working with young people/adults in social care
Experience of working with people with learning disabilities
Excellent understanding of the principles of high quality person centred care and support and non-discriminatory care practice
Knowledge and experience of working with CQC regulation
Knowledge and experience of working with safeguarding legislation
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and how to recognise abuse
