The Mount is an independent specialist residential college for students with moderate learning difficulties. Three year craft based courses funded by the LSC are offered. The Community is located on the outskirts of Wadhurst, a busy village in East Sussex just south of Tunbridge Wells and on the border with Kent. The community comprises about 60 people, including co-workers, their children and some 35 students. The main building was formerly a Victorian monastery, and stands within a 20 acre estate which includes a two acre walled biodynamic (organic) garden and orchards, and three family-sized houses.

The aim of the college is to develop new capabilities in each student through a practical path of learning that activates students'’ own motivation and supports evolving potential and independence. Students who come to The Mount participate in a structured 3 Year Craft Course and in a variety of stimulating artistic and social activities, which take place around their courses and give them opportunities to develop gifts and interests beyond daily routine.

Camphill communities are based on the acceptance of the spiritual uniqueness of each human being.
